Welcome to aFrance.com

Situated among 7 acres of park and wooded land
which straddles a trout stream, Le Moulin d'Arques
was originally the Mill for Le Chateau d'Arques,
one of the region's famous Cathar castles built in
the 12th century. This is a special place!

The Mill has been completely refurbished (finished March 2009), this includes exterior walls being double insulated, under floor heating on the ground floor and a new wood burning stove, triple glazing, complete rewiring and new plumbing including refitting of all bath/shower rooms.

There is also a brand new designer kitchen with all facilities.

The main living area opens onto a covered terrace ideal for alfresco dining.

The grounds are a peace haven and once you cross the river you could walk, cycle or horse ride for days without crossing a main road.

In fact you are within 5 minutes walking distance of the centre of the village with a church, two bars, a post office, a general store and a bakery.

The separate apartment accommodation sits above a large garage and is bright and perfect for self-catering holiday makers. It has 2 double bedrooms both en-suite, a large lounge/dining room with a wood burner and an American-style kitchen.

Le Moulin d'Arques a perfect family home with plenty of room for all with a total of 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. You could of course use the apartment as your own accommodation and the Mill as a guest house.

Outside of the busy summer season, tourism
still provides a good income to this area. Nestled between the Corbieres and Pyrenees mountains, this area is a magnet for tourists who love the outdoors.  In autumn, all the horse riders and hikers are out wandering through the multi-coloured landscape.

The area is well serviced by Carcassonne airport (45 minutes) with flights from Belgium, England and Ireland. Toulouse International airport is 90 minutes away and Perpignan (1 Hour 20 minutes).

Those wanting to come to live amongst the pages of Labyrinth and Sepulchre by Kate Mosse or to uncover the reality underlying Dan Brown's fictional The Da Vinci Code could not be better based than at Le Moulin d'Arques.

Le Moulin d'Arques is perfectly positioned for those particularly wanting to explore the mysteries of Renne Les Chateau a fifteen minute drive away

About Us
My wife Gil and I were drawn to this area about Eight years ago. So taken were we with the people, the history, the mystery and natural beauty of the area that we moved here permanently.
That same folklore, the mystery and the sheer beauty of this wonderful part of France which attracted us draws many visitors from far and wide every year. The Mediterranean sea is just over an hour away as are Spain and Andorra.

   Andorra Map
The region caters for a wide variety of tastes, panoramic walking, folklore and cycling tours, horse riding and for the more adventurous everything from Gliding to White water Rafting.

The Cathar castles are a favourite with visitors and the Medieval Walled city of Carcassonne is quite breathtaking.
